The MPLP Task Force of the Reference, Access, and Outreach Section (RAO) of SAA was interested in what members of the section felt about basic processing, or MPLP, and its implications for reference. So, task force members developed a survey to query them and have provided a
report with the survey results.

RAO's Response to SAA's Strategic Priorities Document
The Steering Committee of the Reference, Access, and Outreach Section responded to the SAA Council's
request for comments on its Strategic Priorities document. Thank you to all of you who contacted the
Steering Committee with comments on the draft of this response. You can access a pdf version of the
document sent to SAA Council here.
If you have any questions about the statement or other issues, please do not hesitate to contact
Section Chair Lynn Eaton, or one of the other members of the steering committee.
In addition, Goerge Bain has asked permission to withdraw his motion in light of the Steering Committee's response; this request has been honored.
Resources on the History of RAO
Ellen Swain, former Chair of the Reference, Access and Outreach Section, has completed a
history of the Section and a list of our
present and former officers. These documents tell the story of the evolution of the Section from
a committee to a Professional Affinity Group to its current incarnation as a Section. We invite you to
learn (or reminisce) about our Section's history, and we welcome your comments, corrections, and additions.
