  • LAR meeting at the 2008 SAA in San Francisco:

The business meeting will take place on August 27, 2008 from 1-3pm at the San Francisco Hilton.

Following the LAR business meeting, Lincoln Cushing will discuss labor poster art. Mr. Cushing has lectured and written extensively about poster art (see his web site http://www.docspopuli.org/). He is the co-author of the forthcoming “Art/Works – American Labor Posters.” All are welcome to attend.

A walking tour of significant 1934 labor strike locations along the San Francisco waterfront will be led by Louis Prisco after the meeting. Time and meeting place will be announced at a later date.

Please note: LAR switched over to a new SAA-sponsored mailing list.

Members of the Society of American Archivists Labor Archives Roundtable, interested colleagues and friends of labor archives and labor history, and the general labor community are welcome! Non-SAA member can create a profile or use an existing one to participate in the new LAR discussion list.

We welcome messages of potential interest to the entire group including discussions relating to labor records and the issues of acquisition, access, preservation, records management, and the research use of labor collections. We also hope to see requests for assistance, announcements, and project proposals.
