WCSU implemented EAD in the summer of 2007. Finding aids were encoded in EAD to conform to
WCSU's local guidelines (derived from NYU's local guidelines). Using the Excel templates
Brian Stevens created at NYU, WCSU's special collections as of December 2007 will have 45
collections of their archival holdings described in EAD finding aids.

EAD Finding aids are rendered from a call to an XSL style sheet in the EAD document. Brian
Stevens designed the style sheet based on a James F. Bell design and Leslie Myrick's NYU
style sheet; all these are based on Michael Fox's Cookbook versions. Finding aids are
accessible from an index maintained by Special Collections and from the 856 field in
Connecticut State University Library System's (CONSULS) OPAC records. Experiments using
Archivists' Toolkit generated MARCXML and ingesting it into the OPAC are ongoing. An
application for searching WCSUs EADs is also currently being investigated.

EAD files published by WCSU were created using an MS Excel template in concert with a
NoteTab clip. Troubleshooting and ongoing editing of EAD files is done with NoteTab
utilizing Chris Prom's EAD configuration.
