<p>Finding aids are made available primarily as static HTML on the Libraries' web site. In
addition, the XML finding aids are delivered on-the-fly as HTML via Florida's union database
entitled Archival Collections, part of the <a href="http://palmm.fcla.edu/">Publication of
Archival, Library and Museum Materials (PALMM)</a> cooperative initiative.</p>

<p>EAD XML finding aids are encoded using the Notetab Light application. Using a clip library
created by John Nemmers (UF) and Chuck Thomas (FCLA), a staff member answers questions and
enters data when prompted and the finding aid in marked up automatically. This method
generally is not used to mark up the &lt;dsc&gt; section of the finding aids.
Instead, box/folder contents lists are first input into MS Excel and then copy/pasted into
the EAD file. Descriptions at the series, sub-series, etc., level are input using the
Notetab clip library method. The XML instance is automatically transformed to HTML using
Saxon and style sheets adapted from Michael Fox's EAD Cookbook.</p>
