The current plan is to make finding aids from all participating repositories available on a
central server managed by the General Libraries at UT Austin, using InQuery as the search
        engine.

Conversion of existing finding aids from all ten repositories (ca. 46,000-50,000 pages)
will be done by Apex Data Services before the end of 2000. Project participants have
received EAD training and have agreed to a basic encoding scheme for new finding aids, for
which XMetaL 1.2 software will be used.

After the successful completion of this initial phase, we hope to secure more funding and
broaden participation to other Texas repositories. Digital images will be added.
