With previously created finding aids we start at one of two places. Recently created
finding aids, one to five years old, have the finding aid stored on computer in a .txt
format that can be accessed by the "editor" component of the Internet Archivist - EAD
software and can be "cut and pasted" into the appropriate input fields of the software.
Older finding aids exist as paper finding aids only and everything must be typed into the
        correct software input fields.

Older finding aids exist as paper finding aids only and everything must be typed into the
correct software input fields. The instances are marked up as the correct information is
input into the correct fields of the Internet Archivist - EAD software.

Yes, the software allows and we use templates for most of the information that is generic
to each of our finding aids.

Currently only manual observation and checking of the generated results in SGML and HTML
        exists.

No indexing necessary, there is a rudimentary search engine. There is the option
of adding search terms to the EAD document that will become terms searched by the search
        engine.
