In 2002 we developed an MS Access database tool for 95% of our encoding for both archdesc and dsc (and we offer it as freeware to any that ask). The output is a fully marked up xml file. We still use Daniel Pitti's Rare Books School Notetab/EAD set-up for specialized encoding, parsing, and XSL/HTML conversions for quality control, proofreading, and paper version transformation. XML is loaded into DLXS for search and display.
