Welcome to the Business Archives Section Web Site!
The Business Archives Section provides a vital mechanism for archivists
to become active in the work of the Society of American Archivists (SAA) and
for meeting members with a common interest in managing and providing access
to business archives.
The Business Archives Section is comprised of employees of corporations,
businesses, non-profit organizations and associations, who administer and provide
access to non-current records from a historical and archival standpoint. Currently,
342 members of SAA belong to the Business Archives Section.
The conduct of business for this section is guided by a governance document that is maintained on this site.
SAA 2007 Annual MeetingCall for Colloquium speakers!
Organizational Change - whether driven by a need to adapt to a changing marketplace, improve the delivery of the brand promise or because of mergers, acquisitions or divestitures - is a constant in business, can and does have a long lasting impact on business archives.

By Law Revisions
As the section leadership continues working to meet membership needs into the future, the steering committee is recommending to the membership an update of the section's governance by-laws. This change will allow for a stronger, more effective and sustainable organization moving forward. At the section meeting at SAA, the revised organizational by-laws will be presented as new business and formally offered for consideration.
Please see the draft language for the possible changes. Members are invited to offer their comment upon the draft by contacting Tony Jahn or other section leadership.
