Michael J.
Fox
Michael Fox is the Deputy Director of the Minnesota Historical
Society. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Library and Information
Studies, he worked for fourteen years at the Wisconsin
Historical
Society as Library Cataloger, Map Curator, Local Records Archivist and Chief,
Public Records Section. He took a position with the Minnesota Historical Society
in 1987 as Head of Processing and became Assistant Director in 2001 with responsibility
for all aspects of the library, archives, and publications programs.
He has
served on numerous standards boards and committees of the Society of American
Archivists, International Council on Archives, and the American Library Association.
A member of the EAD development team, he has been involved in all aspects
of the standard, including the creation and teaching of both Encoded Archival
Description and Style Sheets for EAD...Delivering Your Finding Aids on the
Web
workshops more than
50 times in the U.S. and internationally.
A member of the EAD Working Group,
he is the author of the EAD Cookbook and a contributor to the EAD
Tag Library, EAD
Application Guidelines, and EAD
Tips and Tricks: Converting Data Between MARC and EAD. He is a Fellow of
the Society of American Archivists.
