Gina Minks
Gina Minks is the Imaging and Preservation Service Manager for
Amigos Library Services where she directs preservation and digital imaging
training, consulting, and disaster assistance programs offered to libraries,
museums, and cultural heritage institutions. Minks received a Bachelor of Arts
degree in French and English from Baker University in 1991 and a Master of
Library Science degree from Emporia State University in 1999.
Prior to joining
Amigos, Minks served as Web and Digitization Librarian and Special Collections
Librarian at the University of Tulsa’s McFarlin Library
where she focused on the digitization of archival and manuscript materials
as well as rare books. Previous to her work at TU, she worked for the Electronic
Text Center at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln as a TEI and EAD
encoder. Minks has served on the Amigos Library Services Imaging & Preservation
Service Advisory Council since 2002. She is the recipient of two Amigos Fellowships
and served as co-principle investigator for the Oklahoma Statewide Feasibility
Study of Available Resources and principle investigator for The University
of Tulsa Digitization Initiative: A Blueprint of EAD Implementation for the
Small Academic Library.
Minks has presented on a variety of digital issues including
EAD, XML and Metadata and has a special interest in project management, knowledge
management and
fostering collaboration between institutions. She is an active member of
the American Library Association and Society of American Archivists where she
has
served as vice-chair and chair of the EAD Roundtable.
