Library and Archives Assistant

The Amistad Research Center, a non-profit, independent archives specializing in the history of ethnic minorities in the United States, invites applicants for the full-time position of Library and Archives Assistant. Reporting to the Director of Library and Reference Services, duties include: management of library serial subscriptions, assisting with reference and reading room activities, maintenance of collection guides and vertical files, tours, newsletter preparation, and website development.
Requirements: B.A. and at least 1 yr. of archival or library experience required. May substitute M.A. in History, Library Science or related field for the 1 yr. exp. Excellent oral and written communication skills essential. Demonstrated ability to interact tactfully and courteously with library users. Ability to work both cooperatively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision. Computer experience, especially Microsoft Word and Access and basic knowledge of HTML.
