Media Librarian
Two (2) positions available
Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc., (MBN), a non-profit news and information based satellite television and radio network broadcasting in Arabic to the Middle East and Europe, seeks a highly motivated professional with at least 1-2 years experience in a Media Asset Library within the broadcast industry.
As a digital archivist, this incumbent will :
- Fulfill requests for content by researching and retrieving media
- Advise MBN production personnel on broadcast material availability and assists them in obtaining items not available in MBN's library
- Ensure all media is available and ready for air
- Research location of requested assets, feeds, ingested programs and other materials according to the standardized metadata schema
- Prepare detailed summaries of program content and/or library holdings
- Files tapes in proper locations
- Retrieve archived assets for on-air use
- Verify media metadata, create accurate records and update existing records within databases
- Perform logging of new media files
- Track performance metrics and provides reports
OTHER DUTIES:
- Assist MBN's Media Library and Archives with acquired program media coordination duties and preparation of acquired program for air
- Perform daily archive and deletion functions
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings with client groups and be proactive in preparing for and anticipating client footage needs
- Incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.
QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 1-2 years hands-on experience utilizing a digital asset management system in a professional broadcast or media library environment
- Degree in Library Science, Information Studies, Communications, Television, related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, be detail oriented and have the ability to work effectively with all levels of management.
- Must have advanced proficiency with computer systems and database management as well as word processing
- Must be comfortable working under pressure and provide quick, accurate turnaround of requests against tight deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to support 24/7 news environment including weekend or overnight coverage
- Candidate should have good knowledge of news, current and world events
- Ability to read and speak Arabic is a plus
