The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is seeking an experienced Archivist to establish an archives program at the Bank. This is a contract position preferably full time, but a minimum of 3 days or 24 hours per week for one year. Flex-time is available within our regular work week schedule of Monday-Friday 7am-6pm. Salary is $25-$28 per hour commensurate with experience. No benefits are offered with this position. There is potential for extension of the contract.

Archivist's Responsibilities. The Archivist, reporting to the Research Library Director, will have the following responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with Bank Archives Advisory Committee to review and revise draft Mission Statement, Collections Policy and to consider documentation strategy; develop procedures for the transfer and donation of materials to the Archives; assist in planning and furnishing Archives Storage Room and other spaces necessary for Archives operation; identify, appraise and accession archival materials that are in offices and offsite storage; prioritize arrangement and description efforts and do the work; identify preservation needs and series that might be reformatted; consult with and/or advise other departments on archives issues; handle reference and research questions; assist in outreach efforts and exhibits; supervise Archives interns; work collaboratively with other Federal Reserve System archivists.

Qualifications. Requirements: ALA accredited MLS or master's degree in history (or other relevant subject) with formal course work or training in Archives Management, and three years' experience appraising, arranging, and describing archival materials.
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills; demonstrated organizational and planning skills; familiarity and experience with archival description standards; knowledge of basic preservation and conservation standards for archival materials required. Applicants must be able to perform physical activity associated with Archives work environments. Prefer: Project management, supervisory experience; records management training. Experience in business archives or familiarity with banking history a plus.
