Combining and integrating metadata sets with Encoded
Archival Description (EAD) further widens the possibilities for archival
description. Together, these standards provide richer context and better control
over digital representations of archival artifacts down to the item level of
archival records, papers, and manuscripts. This panel explores the potential of
EAD to improve navigation throughout digital collections of cultural and
heritage institutions and enhance access to their holdings.
