Professional Issues & Advocacy
This page is currently under development to draw attention to SAA initiatives that advocate on behalf of archives and archivists. Please see the following links for details on:
- American Archives Month. October is American Archives Month — an opportunity to raise awareness about the value of archives and archivists. There is strength in numbers and our collective voice can be more powerful than individual voices when we set aside time throughout the month to celebrate our collections.
- Preserving the American Historical Record (PAHR). A bill to provide federal formula grants to every state for projects that preserve historical records and make them more accessible.
- MayDay. A grassroots effort whose goal is to save our archives.
